Why did this mask fail?

Review

Video Transcript Hey, everyone. Welcome back to the place where we're testing every single mask on Amazon. That's right. I bought them. I'm testing them. Let's do this thing. Looking today at the personal protection mask. That's very... I'm not sure. I mean, I guess when I go on the website here, it said the brand is Yongjie. Yongjie. But the box is just a lot more... This happens a lot. You get really generic boxes because they want a number of brands to be able to sell it on themselves. This is interesting.

Okay, I've actually never seen... Every KN95 box I've opened have been individually packed units. These are hand packed and hand sealed. I can tell by the way they're doing it. See, packs of two, four, six, ten, maybe. And there's 50 pieces in there. Interesting. Interesting. Never seen that before. But this one looks like it's a legit mask. Let's put it in the clamper without any further ado, and see if it's meeting the standards that it's promising you right on the mask.

Let it rip. This is a PFE machine, particular filtration efficiency machine. If you want to find out how this guy works, check out that link. And remember, we are just testing filtration here. We're not testing fit. Your face isn't here. And if it did, I would be like high five, bam, right on the face. It's aggressive, I know. Let's look at the listing. So this is interesting. This is like the most generic listing ever. But look, the box is the box that shows up. They talk about really not that much. I'm not even sure why I bought this. Look at that 4900 ratings, is pretty good.

It's funny, right away, they put the name of the manufacturer. And so I looked them up on the EAU's list and look at this, here they are. So they were a part of the FDA's emergency use authorization for KN95s. But recently the FDA just yanked all authorizations because of weird problems with KN95s. So they yanked them all. This was on the list, which is good. That is a bar, but is no longer in the emergency use. Let's take a look at the... This is claiming to be a KN95 and an FFP2, which is a European standard for this type of respirator.

And you can see right here, GB26, 26-2006. Now this is almost meeting the standard. The thing it's missing is the manufacturer name or the brand name. Got to have that on there. That's not on here. So they're, for some reason not meeting the standard. The airflow resistance is really good. This is 120 pascals. You want it to be probably below 150, 100 is amazing, but 120 is great. So it's going to be really breathable. Wow, the ear loops are huge. Oh my gosh, this is really, I'm going to call this smell .25 cent reusable grocery bag at HEB or your favorite grocery store. HEB's a Texas thing, you may not know it.

You know where they outlawed plastic bags, but then you could buy nicer plastic bags for like .25 cents. It smells like the inside of one of those. This is actually unique, because most KN95s have a kind of a different plasticy smell. This is kind of rough. It's just not as soft or as plush as I normally see. The construction isn't ideal. It's not as good as the other ones. Oh, look at double came off. I don't think it's going to come off on your face. Let's try it. But I've definitely seen better KN95s on Amazon.

I have huge ears. Yeah, that's not going to come off on your face. All right. So they're making some interesting claims there by weirdly missing that one thing on the KN95 standard. But who knows, doesn't matter if it doesn't protect you Let's check out the old PFE machine score, table screen and 98.6. 98.6, pretty breathable mask. 98.6% protection, which is exactly what my temperature is right now. I just checked. Not a bad deal. Not a bad deal. All right.

Thank you guys for watching. I appreciate the time. I appreciate you sticking with me and if you want to do more masks, let's do it, man. Buckle up. We are doing every single mask in the world and all I need from you is a single like on every video. All right. I'll catch you on the next test. Thanks a bunch.

Description

The Yongjie KN95 Face Masks failed because the KN95 standard requires that the mask have the manufacturer’s name and the appropriate technical standard, typically either "GB 2626-2019" or GB-2626-2006,” written across the front of the mask. This is similar to how official N95 masks display NIOSH approval numbers. This mask did not have the required identification on its front.
