The Breathe99 Mask is the result of 4+ years of human-centered product development, originally geared towards protection from air pollution, smog and wildfires. The design was adapted during the Covid-19 pandemic, with the removal of the exhalation valve to cater for the growing respiratory protection needs of global citizens.

Is the Breathe99 Mask sustainable?
The Mask is made from durable materials that can be washed and reused hundreds of times, while the filter inserts use a fraction of the polypropylene meltblown media used in traditional disposable masks. This combination makes the Breathe99 system reduce non-biodegradable waste therefore being more sustainable.

Measure nose to chin
Use a piece of string or a ruler to measure the distance between the tip of your nose and the point of your chin. Make sure not to measure under the chin as the Breathe99 Mask is not designed to wrap below the chin.
Verify Fit
Ensure that your nose to chin measurement is within the range shown on the table above. The bottom strap of the Breathe99 Overlay, which fastens around the back of the neck, has a maximum circumference of 21 inches (53 cm).
Face Shape & Fit
Compact Fit
The Breathe99 Mask has a flexible facepiece that conforms to your face to form a seal. It is normal to take a few days of use for the facepiece to break in and achieve the best position for sealing.
Adjustment and Seal
The Breathe99 Mask is designed to sit low on the bridge of your nose. If you have a prominent or low nose bridge, you can flip the inner seal up achieve a tighter fit.

Is the Breathe99 Mask FDA or NIOSH-certified?
Breathe99 Mask is designed to comply with NIOSH N95 standards per 42 CFR Part 84, but it is not yet NIOSH or FDA-approved.
Will the Breathe99 mask fog my glasses?
Breathe99 Mask is designed with a flexible seal that eliminates or significantly reduces fogged glasses. If you are experiencing any fogging, you can try flipping the nose seal portion to achieve a tighter seal on the nose.
Does the Breathe99 mask come in multiple sizes?
No, currently we have one adult size.

How breathable is the Breathe99 Mask?
Breathe99 Mask is very breathable for a respirator or face mask. However, it will not be as comfortable as wearing no mask at all. Breathe99 Mask exceeds the recommended breathing resistance required by NIOSH for Filtering Facepiece Respirators. Light breathing (walking, desk work, driving) through Breathe99 Mask will feel easier than heavy breathing (long flights of stairs, hard labor).

Filter Changes
For a person who only has occasional contact with the public, and can stay physically distanced, we recommend:
- Change filters at least every 2 weeks.
You should change your filters more often if:
- You interact daily with the general public, such as for a job
- You or someone you care for is immunocompromised
- Your filters get wet while in use
- Your think your filters may be contaminated
These are guidelines only, as you know your personal situation and risk level best. Please note that no mask can eliminate the breathing in of all particles or the possibility of getting sick. We have previously stated that our filters can be used for unlimited wear time, but felt that did not adequately account for the pandemic-time risk of contamination or degradation due to humidity.
Cleaning
The facepiece, filter caps, and fabric overlay may be washed by hand using a mild soap or detergent. Alternatively, you can place them all in a laundry delicates bag and machine-wash them on the delicates cycle in cold water.
Storage
When not in use, the Breathe99 Mask can be folded in half with the overlay straps used to secure it closed. Alternatively, the mask can be left on a clean surface or hung somewhere that is out of the way. Do not store in a sealed container because this prevents moisture evaporation.

I've become quite the mask connoisseur. This is now my favorite elastomeric. I can breathe easy in it. Easy to change out the filters and keep clean. Easy to store and travel with. Can still talk in it. It's not huge like my Envo masks are and my glasses don't get shoved so high on my nose as with my Envos. I bought the grey cover. It would be so, so great if you had more color options...a tan/sand for white faces, and a brown for black/brown faces. I get a good seal with the mask. I am going to my first dr appmt with it today so will see how it handles staying sealed w/ me doing a lot of talking. It seems ok when I test it out at home, but I'm about to put it to the test.

It took me maybe three days of wear to 'break it in' so the nosepiece fit more securely. Super wet inside from condensation so make sure to buy the foam insert. Squeezes my cheeks a bit too hard but I have large cheeks and a round face lol. Also I am prone to breakouts so I have to wipe the silicone with an alcohol wipe every day to get rid of oil build up. I think this was the best purchase I have made for the pandemic, I feel like it is an essential tool in my prevention tool kit. It is so affordable and stealthy for the quality, and the color and weave is so cute. Thank you!!

Wear this around the office and out and about when shopping or attending crowded events and it feels comfortable. The big test was during a packed week long convention with crowded sessions. Sites revealed many positive cases afterwards but all my tests came back negative. Like mine so much ordered a second for my father.
Only quirk for me is it doesn't quite fit around my nose, but I found some material to stuff up under the rubber so it puffs up a bit and seals better.

Regarding the fit around your nose - we do suggest flipping that nose piece up and over your nose, pinching to conform and giving the mask 5-7 days of consecutive wear to give the mask a chance to properly conform to your face as this has helped some customer's!

While it looks pretty bulky on my small face it is worth the money. It forms a good seal and has felt quite protective. Very easy to clean and replace filters. I switch between this one, N95s and KN95s generally. Also doesn’t look to bad and I like the adjustability.

Now that so many folks no longer care about Covid, I find this mask ann indispensable addition to life. I was using N95s before, but the fit of these was never optimal, Ann’si was always quietly worried. This Breathe99 mask fits much more securely (even with my rather pronounced nose)! I feel a zillion times safer indoors around people without masks on now :)

I like my mask but in warm weather I prefer the lighter black mesh overlay style. I do not see it offered anymore and wonder what happened? bring it back please!
Reporting from the medical field and having tried numerous other disposable and reusable mask systems, I find that the Breathe99 is a superiorly designed and functioning mask. It is compact, light, good looking and durable. The mask is easily carried when not worn. To date, since my first Breathe99 usage in early 2021, my practical real world n = 1 experiment has proven to be effective.

I purchased this mask when it first came out, prior to the availability of vaccinations, at the height of covid. I credit it with protecting me from covid while I worked with anti vaxxers/ maskers, shoulder to shoulder, face to face as a plant mechanic. To date, because of this mask, and in combination with vaccinations, I have avoided the virus.
My colleagues however, did not fair as well. One has permanent lung damage and another has long covid. Out of thirteen of us, I'm the only one who has not had a covid related sick day in five years! IThe Breathe 99 is comfortable, dependable, and I like that it can hang from my neck when I don't need it and it does not fog my glasses. I thank Ambrust for keeping it on the market.
